Welcome to the official opening ceremony for the 35th International Electric Vehicle Symposium on June 13th.
The famous EV-influencer Roger Atkins and the Norwegian EV Association’s own Helene Busengdal welcome you to the very merry official opening ceremony. On the stage you will have the opportunity to hear from Michael Wood, Minister of Transport, New Zealand and Christoph Starzynski, VP Development Electric Drive and Product Group Electric Vehicle Architecture, Mercedes-Benz among others.
Opening Ceremony part 1
We will hear from two ministers from two small countries with high EV-ambitions. They are leading the change and showing the rest of the world it can be done, namely New Zealand, and Norway.
After a welcome keynote speech from the Norwegian Minister of Climate and Environment, Espen Barth Eide from Norway, you will have the opportunity to hear from Michael Wood, Minister of Transport, New Zealand. He will be talking about how the Government of New Zealand – with its national Electric Vehicles Program – is Increasing the uptake of electric vehicles to support decarbonization of the transport sector in New Zealand.

Opening Ceremony part 2
In the second part of the opening ceremony, we welcome two interesting companies to the stage. They are each working towards the most sustainable production possible of batteries and electric vehicles.
First on the stage will be the CEO of the Norwegian Battery cell manufacture, Tom Einar Jensen, Freyr. Read the exclusive EVS35 interview “Let the battery battle begin!” with Tom Einar Jensen.
Next on the stage you do not want to miss hearing from Mercedes-Benz, one of the automotive front runners when it comes to developing world leading EV technology. Only recently Mercedes-Benz launched their Mercedes-EQ EQXX with a range on more than 1.000 kilometers, they launched the technological wounder Mercedes-Benz EQS and the new luxurious flagship from Mercedes, the EQS SUV had world premier this week. Hear more about Mercedes-Benz’s own EV revolution from Christoph Starzynski, Vice President and Member of the Executive Board Mercedes-Benz Drive Systems. Christoph Starzynski is Head of Development Electric Drive and Product Group Electric Vehicle Architecture. Together with his team, he is responsible for the battery, electric drive unit, and all charging activities at Mercedes-Benz as well as the development of the first dedicated electric vehicle platform.
