Harald Solberg took up the position as CEO of the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association from 1 January 2018. From June 2016 through 2017, Solberg was Chief of the the Royal Secretariat. He served as Deputy CEO at the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association from 2015 to 2016, and from 2011 to 2015 as Director of Industrial Policy and Communication. Solberg has previously held the position as CEO of Dagsavisen and has also worked as Executive Director at Mentor Media (2005-2011), State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance (2003-2005), political advisor to the office of the Prime Minister (2001-2003), and as political advisor in the Norwegian Parliament and deputy parliamentary representative for the Christian Democratic Party. Solberg holds a cand. mag. in political science from the University of Oslo.
Harald Solberg will give a keynote speech on the AEC & NEVS plenary session on Zero emissions Maritime Wednesday June 15th at 11.00. He will speak about the Norwegian shipping industry’s bold ambitions to reduce emissions from the maritime sector, and the need to develop new and profitable green technologies, such as batteries, hydrogen and ammonia.
The Norwegian Shipowners’ Association is a trade and employment organization for Norwegian controlled companies within the shipping and offshore industry. The primary fields are national and international industry policies, employer issues, competence and recruitment, environmental issues and innovation in addition to safety at sea. Their members are the core and driving force in the Norwegian maritime cluster. NSA’s members employ about 50,000 seafarers and offshore workers from nearly 50 different nations.
